Tyne and Wear

Next recruiting: 2021

Tyne and Wear is our twelfth Coach Core programme, and features an exciting mix of sport and youth orientated organisations. The diverse programme has a distinct set of placement offerings for apprentices in the following sports and activities: disability sport, outdoor activities, rugby, community action and cricket to name a few.

The current programme is running with 18 apprentices who have been offered full time employment with a recognised sporting or youth based employer and a wage, whilst also working towards the Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification – and a whole host of additional learning opportunities. In addition, whilst employed directly by one organisation, there is also access to a range of events, training opportunities and experiences through the other supportive partners.

The employers for the Tyne and Wear Coach Core programme 2019/20 are: National Trust, Newcastle United Foundation, Durham Cricket Board, Newcastle Eagles, Northumberland Rugby Board, Sporting Chance, Sport Works, Ponteland Rugby Club, Sunderland Community Action Group, Percy Park Rugby Club,  Hat-trick, Youth Almighty, Northumberland Cricket Board and Northumberland Council. The programme is administered by Tyne & Wear Sport.
