When we're recruiting next: 2021
This eagerly awaited programme will benefit from an exciting range of placements, all of which are committed to providing a more inclusive, welcoming culture for young women across Leicestershire. The programme is made up of a range of sports and activities, including those not previously seen on existing Coach Core programmes. These include: Boxing, Cricket, Rugby Union, Gymnastics, Parkour, Cheerleading and Coach Core’s first ever hockey and triathlon employers.
Since starting Coach Core in 2012, we’ve watched our number of female apprentices increase year upon year. We want to make a real difference with our new programme in Leicester, and provide a real focus on increasing the number of applications from under-represented groups, including females. Women and other under-represented groups have had increased opportunities to get involved in sport in recent years. However, we’ve found that it is still difficult for some to take that leap to a sport or physical activity based career. Indeed, with the number of active female coaches and participants still significantly lower than males, we would particularly like to encourage and help them to thrive, by building a strong empowered team who can help inspire their community and create real change to the dynamics of the sporting community.
We particularly welcome applicants from female, black, minority, ethnic (BME) communities, disabled people and lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans (LGBT) communities, as they are currently under represented within our workforce. This is a fantastic opportunity for those not in full time education or employment at the moment to start an unrivalled 15 month programme of learning. The course will enable each apprentice to gain meaningful qualifications and have full support and mentoring based on their individual needs. Coach Core can create amazing opportunities for your future, even if it isn’t within the sporting community.
We will look to provide opportunities for up to 20 new apprentices based in the Leicestershire area. Successful applicants will be offered full time employment with a recognised sporting or youth based employer, earning a wage whilst also working towards the NVQ Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification- and a whole host of additional learning opportunities. In addition, whilst employed directly by one organisation, there will also be access to a range of events, training opportunities and other experiences through the other supportive partners.
We are proud to be working with the committed teams at Leicestershire and Rutland Sport, as well as a host of other local and national industry partners to provide an inspiration range of opportunities through this exciting new programme.
