Steph Houghton MBE continues to champion Coach Core

The Manchester City captain will be continuing to support Coach Core and its apprentices through 2024

By James Burbidge · 18th March 2024

The Manchester City and England footballer has reaffirmed her commitment to Coach Core Foundation as she continues to advocate for sport as a path to meaningful employment opportunities.

Steph earned 121 caps for England and spent 8 years as captain of the team, competing in 3 World Cups and 2 Olympic Games in that time. She is  seamlessly transitioning into becoming a respected pundit, offering insightful analysis, and enriching the game’s discourse. She has been passionate about growing the women’s game and advocates for women’s empowerment and equal opportunities in sports.

I am delighted to continue working with Coach Core. I think the work they do to give young people skills, qualifications and meaningful work is really special. The apprentices I’ve met have been inspiring in their passion to push themselves, and commitment to their communities.

Steph Houghton

Coach Core Foundation is a charity that gives young people facing barriers and bias the chance to re-engage with education and employment through sports coaching apprenticeships. Houghton’s ongoing commitment to the charity underscores her belief in the power of sports and the importance of every young person getting a fair chance in life. By lending her voice and influence she amplifies the charity’s work and enables more young people to reach their full potential.
