Coach Core Foundation have been working with YGAM, an award-winning education charity committed to a social purpose to inform, educate and safeguard young people against gaming and gambling harms. YGAM have been training our apprentices to increase their knowledge around these vital safeguarding topics:

  • Mental health and wellbeing
  • Gaming and gambling harms
  • Advertising and sponsorship
  • The blurred lines between gaming and gambling
  • How to spot signs of harm
  • Where to get help and support

In addition, all of our apprentices receive access to YGAM’s resources portal, with over 1,000 sessions to help raise further awareness with the young people they will be working with at their sports organisations. YGAM offer workshops to sports organisations, education professionals, youth workers, healthcare professionals and University staff. If you’re interested in finding out more please contact training@ygam.org or visit their website at www.ygam.org.

Sacha Kent, National Education Manager for NCS and Sports said:

“We’ve been working with Coach Core for just over a year, and the engagement and motivation from the apprentices has been fantastic. We recognise the great work of Coach Core who support their apprentices and graduates with a wide range of opportunities. By working with them, we are able to increase their knowledge and skills related to gambling and gaming harm and then empower them to support the young people they come in to contact with the resources made available to them. Sport is a hugely influencing factor to a lot of young people, and it’s great to utilise it in such a positive way to increase other life skills too.”

Amy Fazackerley, National Partnerships Manager at Coach Core Foundation said:

“We’re delighted to be working with YGAM, to help educate our apprentices about the harms of gambling and how they can support those that they work with too. The partnerships aligns perfectly with our ambition to provide holistic, wrap-around support for our apprentices, to help develop their personal and professional skills and set them up for a sustainable career beyond the course of the programme. We look forward to continuing our work with YGAM and helping to support even more young people”
