At Coach Core Foundation, we’re on a mission to break down barriers and create life-changing opportunities through inclusive sports apprenticeships. We work with over 230 employers and have supported more than 1,000 apprentices into meaningful education and employment.
We believe in the power of diverse perspectives. Whether you come from a different industry, sector, or have lived experience, we encourage you to apply if you bring fresh insights, innovative thinking, and a passion for our mission. Even if you don’t meet every requirement, we welcome applications from those eager to learn, grow, and make an impact.

About the Role

We are looking for a Workforce, Skills & Apprenticeship Lead to drive national partnerships, grow employer engagement, and expand access to apprenticeships for young people across the UK. You will work with major partners such as UK Sport, England Boxing, England Hockey, our training provider, referral partners, and wider sector partners to shape the future of workforce development in sport.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong relationship-builder – confident engaging employers, partners, and young people
  • Experience in workforce development, youth employment, or sport for social change
  • Strategic thinker – able to shape national skills initiatives and influence stakeholders
  • Organised and proactive – able to manage multiple priorities and projects effectively

Further Information

This role is part-funded by a UK Sport grant, supporting our work for the next four years. While funding runs until March 2029, we are initially offering a two-year fixed-term contract from the start date to provide flexibility for both the charity and the post-holder. There is potential to extend this role until March 2029, subject to organisational needs.

At Coach Core, we have a strong track record of recognising talent and retaining staff. Our current Workforce, Skills & Apprenticeship Leads started on fixed-term contracts and were made permanent ahead of schedule, demonstrating our commitment to long-term workforce development whenever possible.

We also practice what we preach—Coach Core currently has three members of staff completing apprenticeships, showing our commitment to developing our workforce at every level. As part of this role, a fully funded higher-level apprenticeship may be available if appropriate.
