5-time Olympian Jo Pavey MBE joins Coach Core as an Ambassador
The record-setting long distance runner has joined up with Coach Core to support our mission to change lives through sport and apprenticeships.
Jo Pavey is an extraordinary athlete whose achievements include winning gold in the 2014 European Athletics Championships 10,000m at the age of forty to became the oldest European Champion in history just ten months after giving birth to her second child. Jo is a World Championships 10,000m Bronze medalist and she has also won European silver and bronze medals, and Commonwealth silver and bronze medals. She became the only British track runner to have participated in five Olympic Games, also earning the title of Britain’s oldest ever Olympic runner at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
Jo joins Coach Core as an ambassador in order to support the charity’s mission to change lives through sport and apprenticeships. As a passionate runner and coach herself, Jo knows the impact sport can make on a young life – and the impact a coach can make on those they work with.
“I’m thrilled to be an Ambassador for Coach Core! The charity does such fantastic work to transform the lives of young people who’ve been disadvantaged or missed out on opportunities. It really is so fantastic how, through the power of sport and apprenticeships, Coach Core gives people that start in life they really need to get into education or employment.”
Jo’s dedication to her sport exemplifies the values of hard work, perseverance, and resilience that Coach Core aims to instil in its apprentices. Her journey as an athlete and her life beyond it will inspire and engage those across the Coach Core network.
