What we expect of you, and you can expect of us

What you can expect from us

  • As a valued Coach Core Employer, we will commit to provide you with the following:
  • 12 years of expertise in all things apprenticeships and specialised knowledge of the Sport and Physical Activity industry.
  • Support to understand, launch, and manage your apprenticeship programme. We will clearly explain and simplify the process for you, including the set up on your online government portal, and drawing down any funding you may be eligible for.
  • Ongoing support throughout all aspects of the apprenticeship from start to finish including writing job adverts, recruitment, best practice, apprentice CPD and wellbeing, as well as post-apprenticeship pathways.
  • Networking opportunities with other organisations and partners within the sector from both your local cohort and with our national partners such as CIMSPA.
  • Help to raise your profile and provide marketing opportunities through our social media channels, promotional campaigns, and partner networks.
  • A dedicated Coach Core Employment Coach who will support you and your apprentice through your apprenticeship journey.
  • Opportunities for you and your apprentice to be nominated or nominate others for an award at our Annual Coach Core Awards and, where possible, other local and national awards.

We will also:

  • Provide your apprentices with additional CPD through our Development Weeks through partners such as Street Games and UK Coaching
  • Provide your apprentice access to a pre-apprenticeship support through Skills 360
  • Provide your apprentice with their own CIMSPA and UK Coaching membership which will give them access to additional resources, courses and information.

What we expect from you

As well as supporting your apprentice through their apprenticeship, we also expect you to contribute to the success of the wider cohort.  In order to be a valuable Coach Core Employer we ask that you agree and commit to the following: 

  • Provide your apprentice with a rich variety of experiences, supporting their ongoing professional development and continually providing them with opportunities to development new skills.
  • Act as a role model and mentor to nurture your apprentice to propel their personal growth and to develop their vital soft skills.
  • Support your apprentice’s learning which includes ensuring you allocate 20% of their contracted hours during term-time to their education, and equipping them with the tools and environment they need, such as a quiet space and laptop.
  • Enable your apprentice to attend additional CPD sessions provided by Coach Core Foundation.
  • Support the cohort, where possible, which may include offering space for group face-to-face education days, providing with CPD opportunities, attending events, attending all employer consortium meetings and completing all evaluation documents including 90-day and 365-day case studies.
  • Where possible offer your apprentice support and guidance with their employment pathway once they have completed their apprenticeship.  This could include further upskilling your Level 2 graduate through the Level 3 Community Sport & Health Officer apprenticeship, extending their fixed-term contract, offering them a permanent contract, and signposting them to alternative employment opportunities either through your own local network or with the support of Coach Cores network.
