Coach Core Essex graduate Fanuel’s story

Fanuel made the final three for Apprentice of the Year at the Coach Core Awards.

Fanuel started his Coach Core journey in 2017, and has recently graduated. He now works for Sport for Confidence, an organisation working across Essex to deliver inclusive sessions and engages a high number of young people and adults with learning and physical disabilities.

Throughout his time as a Coach Core apprentice he has supported a number of other employers and apprentices and has really put himself out there to ensure that he gains the best possible experience – which resulted in him getting a full-time job at Sport for Confidence following his graduation!

With Parkour being his sport of choice, he has developed programmes using this sport to engage the hardest to reach groups. He has delivered sessions to the other apprentices as well as supporting a number of events, in his own time across Essex.

Fanuel has volunteered as an Active Essex 30:30 ambassador, a campaign aimed at getting the inactive, active! He made vlogs to encourage others across Essex to get more active and inspired many to do so with his challenges. He has also supported the Active Essex Foundation, a charity aimed at using sport and physical activity to engage the most deprived groups across Essex to promote their work and show the positive impact that physical activity and sport can have on an individuals, families and communities.

Through his work at Sport for Confidence, his own confidence in delivering to large groups has increased and he often comes up with innovative ideas to enhance drills and sessions and is able to adapt sessions to suit the diverse needs of his group.

It’s no surprise that Fanuel made it to the final 3 nominated for Apprentice of the year at the Coach Core Awards this year!
