Lidl to support Coach Core apprentices
Supermarket giants Lidl have committed to supporting sports and physical activity providers who bring on a Coach Core apprentice by using the government’s apprenticeship levy transfer scheme.
Large employers that pay the apprenticeship levy but do not use it all on apprentices of their own are able to transfer some of those funds to other organisations to use towards the costs of apprentice training and assessment.
We are delighted to announce that Lidl are helping to increase opportunities for young people in the community through their support of Coach Core Foundation. In 2023 Lidl will use the government’s levy transfer scheme to support the grassroots organisations employing Coach Core apprentices. This means more organisations will be able to join Coach Core programmes, more young adults will get the chance to make a positive change in their lives and more communities will reap the benefits of an active lifestyle. Lidl will also work closely with the Coach Core programmes in Surrey and Sussex, offering additional training and opportunities to the apprentices there through our head office. Local stores will also be able to promote Coach Core’s activities, helping to ensure that the people who need these opportunities are aware of them.
“Coach Core Foundation is delighted to be working in collaboration with Lidl and Lifetime Training through this exciting new partnership. This joint venture will help to reduce the financial barriers for small and medium sized employers, enabling us to provide apprenticeships to even more young people facing exclusion and/or lack of opportunity, whilst also supporting our vision to drive impactful social mobility through apprenticeships and sport.”
