The GORSE Academies Trust has an increasingly well-known reputation for changing the deal for children and young adults who come from some of the most impoverished parts of the country. We believe that sport plays an integral role in the development of all young people and can give our young people experiences they would not otherwise have. In order to enable our young people to experience the most wide-ranging opportunities possible, we run the “BIG 3” programme. The BIG 3 centres around three sports – Rowing, Volleyball and Karate – which we believe contribute to this trust-wide focus on improving the lives of the students in our care. These sports offer students with different skills and natural abilities, the opportunity to try something completely different and to rise to the very top of their sport as young athletes

“I really enjoyed the programme. Having a well skilled tutor with lots of knowledge around multiple situations definitely helped. As well as this, the extra courses which I was enrolled on (multi-skills, Inclusive training, safeguarding and first aid) put me in good stead for my job at the moment, but also for the future. My future plans are a full time role with the Gloucestershire Cricket Board as a community coach and advance from there.”
